The first topic I will discuss is getting an IPod. An IPod should not be mistaken with an mp3 player they are different. An mp3 player has some of the same features as an IPod but is a lot smaller and doesn't work with ITunes. They both will let you listen to music though if you rather choose one than the other. An IPod is a specific name of this music player from the company apple. There are other versions of an IPod but it has other names and is made by a different company. The way you know you have an IPod is by the apple logo on the back of the IPod. An IPod can be brought at any electronic store across the globe; there is even its own apple store. IPod's come in many different shapes, sizes and colors. They range in many different prices as well the bigger the size the more money. There are also many different versions of the IPod you can purchase. There is an IPod nano that doesn't show the songs or play videos, the IPod classic shows the songs, pictures, and videos. There is a version of the IPod that talks; it tells you the song being played. There is the IPod touch which lets you touch the screen and perform the different tasks. All IPods work with a program called ITunes. ITunes is the program that lets you upload music to your IPod, delete music, add and delete videos, pictures, create playlists, and so on.
The next topic I will discuss is connecting your IPod with ITunes. ITunes comes with your IPod on a disc when you purchase it. If you do not have a disc you can go to apple.com and download ITunes for free. There is a simple set up and you're ready to go. ITunes does not just have to work with an IPod it can be used as your music player on the pc. Just like you would use windows media player you can use ITunes for that as well. You can add music to ITunes and even upload cd's into ITunes as well. To add music to ITunes you would go to the file tab and click add folder. This is all you have to do and all the music in the folder you select will be added to ITunes. To add a cd to ITunes you just put in the cd and it will start to play in ITunes. The next step is you will see in the bottom right corner a button that says import cd and then the cd will be uploaded. Now to get your IPod connected with ITunes there are just a few steps.
The first thing you will want to do is connect your IPod to the computer with the usb cord. Open up ITunes when you connect the IPod to the pc. If this is the first time you're using the IPod the computer will have to install the hardware first. Once the computer installs the hardware for your IPod it may ask you to restart before you use ITunes. Once all this is done open up ITunes and it will take a minute to connect with your IPod. You will see your IPod on the ITunes screen once it's connected. You will have the option to name your IPod whatever you want to call it. You can select the option to have ITunes come on every time you connect your IPod to the pc. When your IPod is connected to the pc it charges also, so you do not need an outlet charger.
When you click on your IPod in ITunes you will see a menu screen come up. It will show you all the different options you have to use like summary, music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, photos, contacts, and games. When you first use your IPod it will have manually manage music and enable disk use checked. Having these checked will make using your IPod difficult so I will tell you what to do. The only box that should be checked is sync only checked songs and videos. This makes it easy so when you go to file and add folder to library those songs will add to your IPod automatically. To add specific songs in any order you want you have to make a playlist. You will want to scroll to the next tab and all the others and click sync music and all songs and playlists. This will enable all the playlists that are on ITunes to be on your IPod. To create new playlists now that you have enabled it, you go to file, new playlist, and it will show up under playlists. You will then name that playlist whatever you want to call it. You can then go to the playlist called recently added and drag the songs you want to that specific playlist you just made. As with everything you do with ITunes after you do something you have to always sync. Make sure with every task if it's adding a folder, making a playlist, or anything you must always sync when you're done. With these easy steps is how you can listen to music with your IPod by connecting it with ITunes.
When using an IPod with ITunes it may be confusing at first. It may take a few tries to get everything right but in the end it's not that hard. ITunes always updates itself so it will pop up with updated versions from time to time. Music has come a long way and we can only imagine where it's headed. So sit back, relax, and listen to your IPod and let the good times roll.
