How to Make Ironing Easier

You Have Articles to Write!

Perhaps you are that rare person who actually enjoys ironing.

The rest of us, however, are looking for ways to make ironing easier. Like many routine household jobs, ironing will have to be done eventually, so why not make it easier?

Make Ironing Easier with a Good Routine

Much of what you might dread about having to iron clothes is the preparation that always seems to go into it. How can ironing be easy when you have to continually find the right time and needed supplies to iron clothes?

By establishing a good routine, then, you can make ironing easier. This good routine that can make ironing easier can include several things.

For example, if you dread having to drag out the ironing board every time there are clothes coming from the washer, why not leave this ironing board set up in a spare room? If this room has a television set, you can also make your ironing routine easier by letting this household job coincide with your favorite show.

Another rule of thumb that will make ironing easier is to never wash more clothes until the previous wash has been ironed. This can be part of an ironing routine that will make the job easier because it keeps the ironing from piling up.

Additionally, if part of what you dread about ironing is having to stand up while doing it, why not make ironing easier by simply lowering the ironing board? You can be just as effective at doing the ironing while sitting down in most cases.

Make Ironing Easier with Good Techniques

Once a good routine for ironing has been established, you can make ironing easier by using good ironing techniques.

Because clothes are easier to iron when they are a bit damp, you should always iron shirts straight from the washer. You can also spray the ironing board cover with water so that the moisture spreads evenly.

Making use of heat and steam are also a natural part of the good techniques which make ironing easier. To accomplish this, put aluminum foil under the ironing board cover so that it heats up more quickly.

A cologne spray mist can be used in addition to the water and steam to give the shirts a nice smell.

In conclusion, maybe you dread the job of ironing.

But you can make ironing easier by establishing a good routine so that the job becomes less overwhelming.

You can also make ironing easier by using good techniques that will make the job seem more worthwhile. The better the clothes look, the more likely you will be encouraged to iron them.

I must admit I never iron. We're a family of wrinkled people. LOL

Years ago we used to have a "sprinkler bottle" which was often a soda bottle with a special sprinkler stopper in it. Our clothes were often starched and we sprinkled them down straight from the clothesline, rolled them up in neat rolls, and let them sit till they were evenly damp before ironing. We didn't have steam irons back then. As a girl, my mother had ironed with "flat irons" she heated on a wood stove.
