Jewelry
Choosing jewelry in a vivid color is a great way to add a punch of color to your outfit. Experiment with dangle earrings. Pair these earrings with a single bold bracelet. If you are feeling daring; add on multiple bracelets. Necklaces with large pendants can demand attention on the plainest black dress. Wearing a large cocktail ring can add glitz to any evening out.
Belt
Belts are accessories most often overlooked. Many times we unknowingly only think of belts when they go with the outfit that we purchased the belt for. Depending on the style of dress, a thin belt, stretch belt or leather belt may bring your look together. Look for hardware and color tones that compliment your jewelry selection. A great way to purchase quality leather belts, chain, fabric, and stretch belts is to visit a thrift store near your home. Upscale neighborhoods or thrift stores run by charities such as hospitals or churches usually have great designer and fashion belts. Yes, you can purchase a belt at the mall. However, wouldn't it be better to have on a great vintage or fashion belt that you can be assured no one else will be wearing.
Scarves
Scarves are available in many different colors and fabrics. A scarf can be worn as a belt, a shawl, or tied around the neck. If you have gained an unexpected pound or two, tying a wide scarf around your waist similar to a beach sarong is a great wardrobe fix. A great sheer or lightweight fabric would look nice. Broaches or Vintage pins are a great way to tie your belt if you are wearing it at the waist. A great example video about how you to change your look with scarves is found here http://www.expertvillage.com/video/8189_scarf-wearing-full-wrap.htm
Rotating the accessories that you already have can create many different looks. Experimenting with your accessories is a great way to get the most use out of your wardrobe. Accessories many times are a forgotten part of our wardrobe that gets pushed aside. Try on your favorite black dress, then select different styles of jewelry that compliment a belt that already own. A scarf may go well with small classic jewelry or large hoop earrings. When shopping for accessories, always think about how unique this piece is. Look for pretty pieces that are not cookie cutter, and reflect your personal style. Shopping your closet is a great way to create many different looks, and perk up any plain black dress.
