1. Coherently fill out your application - You must not fill out forms hurriedly. Filling out forms in a rapid fashion might cause you to make unnecessary mistakes. When potential employers see that you have crossed out and drawn lines through words on the application, they will think that you are incapable of reading directions. This will hurt your chances of getting placed.
2. Have valid references. Make sure that your references are solid. Too often applicants use the names of their past supervisors without permission or they use references from places when they have been fired. If you want the job you have to be willing to get references from people who will put in a good word for you. This is very important.
3. Have a polite and strong personality. Do not appear too timid. Try to exert yourself so that you come across strong in character even if you are not. Future employers look at body language and if they see that you are timid they might put a limit on where they will place you.
4. Be willing to take any job. If you are asked to take a job that you are not comfortable with do not outright refuse the job but be open to it. Let the agent know that you are not comfortable with this type of work but you are willing to try.
5. You should know as much as you can about Microsoft office. Microsoft office is an important aspect of many businesses and if you plan to work in an office or any business you should be familiar with a bit of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You can take books out at the library, or play around on a computer that has the software to learn ore bout it.
6. Dress neatly and professionally. Do not go to the appointment wearing sandals or casual clothing such as; jeans and shirts or sunglasses. Wearing appropriate clothing shows the agent that you understand the proper apparel for the business atmosphere.
7. Call into the agency every 3-4 days. This is very important. Do not rely on the agent to call you, you must call the agent. Chances are your agent sees more than eight applicants a day and he or she might forget about you; especially if your personality was not as strong. It is up to you to call and ask if there are any assignments available for you.
