How to Job Search in Florida

Patti Winters
In these difficult economic times, amid lay offs, job searches are becoming more and more challenging than ever. Sending out a stock resume is no longer the best way to find a job, and Florida is one of the most difficult states to search. Below are steps to help you job search in Florida.

NETWORKING:

Most jobs are found through word of mouth. Let all your friends, family, and those you've worked with in the past know that you are looking for a position and what you are looking for. These are the people you will be asking to use as references, and you also need to ask their permission for this.

APPLY ONLINE:

Many online resources are available for job searches, consider all regional and local sources. Nothing should be counted out, keep looking at all the possible sources. In additional to the job posting sites, look on the local business web sites too for their job postings. Many companies will not pay for a listing on a major web site, when they can get enough resumes for open positions from their own web sites.

There are many online job search sources specifically for Florida. Here are a list of some to start with:

All Florida Job Fairs, Career Builder, Job Bank Info, Central Florida Employment Council, Employ Florida, Employment Guide, Job Central, Job Search Guide, Monster, Orlando Jobs Bank, Florida State Jobs, Senior Job Bank, and WorkForce Central Florida.

APPLY IN STORES:

If you are interested in retail positions, many stores have store based computer application locations. Stop by the stores in your area and complete these applications in person.
