How Joe Biden Helps Obama's Campaign

When senator Obama won the democratic nomination the question on people's minds was, who is he going to pick to be his running mate? Many people wanted Clinton to be the vice for different reasons, some people saw it as a chance to heal a divided party and some within the party saw it as a chance to have a woman vice president. Obama went with a person in my view that could counter McCain's claims of being more experienced than Obama.

People may say that besides Clinton, Obama could have chosen from a list that has the likes of Al Gore, John Edwards but if one analyses these man, one will realize that they are people who do not have a good track record in terms of winning. To put it this in a more blunt way they are in the public associated with lose and that would not give Obama campaign any confidence. Obama being some one who represents change it was a good decision to put Biden as his running mate.

The biggest challenge that Biden faces is that he to some extent endorsed McCain and that will be a problem in future .Joe Biden is not one of the most popular politicians in the United States and that creates problems for Obama because the public would have to know the person before they vote for him. This is a contrast to Senator Clinton who had a huge following during the primaries and at the beginning of the campaign was considered a strong contender. Many people are at loss of words wondering why he did not choose Clinton.

In my opinion Joe Biden has a chance as he is the experienced part of presidential ticket. He has gone through a lot of hardship in his life and that would certainly help Obama in carrying out his duties. Hillary once said Obama does not have what it takes to be the commander in chief but with Biden there is plenty of advise for Obama . Joe Biden has been in the senate for more than six terms and has extensive experience in foreign policy as he has held the post of foreign relations chairman on some occasions.

This election has proved that it is not about the vice president but the president as one may look at it, people are looking for change and both candidates offer different versions of what change means and looks like McCain is offering more of the same with a twist and Obama is offering a path never taken before by the American people
