The first thing you want to do in the morning is make sure you get up and out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off. Many people will stay in bed and let it continue to beep, until they get up to press the snooze button and fall back asleep. The best thing you can do is the second you hear the alarm start to beep, jump out of bed and race to turn it off. This will get your energy flowing, and give you a jump start when compared to lying in bed ten minutes after the first snooze.
The second thing you want to do in the morning to help jump start your day is to take a cold shower. The majority of the population takes hot showers because they are relaxing and comfortable, but what you need in the morning is not relaxing, you need that shocking energy boost a cold shower provides. Taking cold showers not only helps wake you up in the morning, it also helps keep skin from drying out, and is in many occasions been proven to boost your immune system. If you can't take the coldest setting on your shower, note that anything below the hottest setting is better for you.
After you have jumped out of bed and taken a cold shower, be sure to get a good breakfast. The breakfast you eat gives you fuel for the morning time until lunch, so if you have been feeling extra groggy in your mornings it may have to do with not eating a proper breakfast. It is important to try and avoid sugary cereals and donuts, as they tend to give a mild energy rush followed by a sleepy crash feeling. It is also important to get enough fruits and vegetables, so try to incorporate at least one serving of fruit into your breakfast.
Those three methods are great ways to give you more energy in the morning, and help you jump start your day, but if after following those three you still don't have energy there are some added extras. These extras include a morning jog or yoga stretch to help get the blood flowing, listening to fast paced music as you go through your morning routine, and taking a multivitamin or energy supplement. Overall if you are tired of hating morning grogginess, check out the above methods to help you jump start your day.
