How to Justify Buying Nike Wafflo Boots

Waffling Over Hip and Cool Footwear

The Nike Wafflo Boots almost make me wish we had a real winter this year. I say almost because it is enjoyable to not have to brush piles of snow off the car and dig and scrape around for the windshield and the wiper blades.

A real winter would work for the Nike Wafflo Boots because they beg to be stomped around in snow. Without snow, or even a hint of it so far this year, there is only one other reason to buy the NikeWafflo Boots.

The only other reason for buying an $80 pair of white snow boots would be to perform in a local production of a winter wonderland version of Barbarella. I just don't see that happening around here.

And really, the only justification I could see for spending $80 on a pair of any winter boots in a snowless-season would be if they had some superior vibrating features (refer back to Barbarella).

The Nike Wafflo Boots sure are cute, though. They look like the love child of a traditional Nike sneaker and a pair of moon boots.

The Nike Wafflo Boots come in black, on which Nike mistakenly make their famous swish black too. The black on black is not a strong fashion statement. The chocolate brown Nike Wafflo Boots are interesting, and kind of retro looking with a "fiberglass" colored swish.

The white Nike Wafflo Boots with the silver on them are the best. They remind me of so many things: go go boots, moon boots, the 80s, the 60s, the Sta-Puff Marshmallow Man, a man on the moon, a cool and athletic Christopher Robbin, the Pilsbury Dough Boy's girlfriend....probably not exactly images Nike had in mind when they designed the boots.

The Nike Wafflo Boots are definitely a mixed bag from a design and fashion stand point. They are at once modern and retro to the point of being anachronistic. For those reasons I can't help but drool over them, and wish I had a pair.

From a practical stance, the Nike Wafflo Boots do have a useful waffle soul, and are easy pull-on, pull-off boots. Not so practical is the suede, especially with the white boots.

If I owned a pair of Nike Wafflo Boots I would not want to wear them outside and get them dirty or wet. I could prance around the house in them. So maybe I have created a justification for purchasing a pair of $80 boots in a snowless winter.
