How to Keep a Cat Away from the Christmas Tree in 4 Easy Steps!
Keep Your Cat Away from the Christmas Tree
Some tips for keeping a cat away from the Christmas tree:
Diversion Tactics
Does your cat like catnip? If yes, then buy some soft-toys filled with catnip. Cats would definitely get indulged for hours playing with these toys. When they notice the decorated Christmas tree, they would be so tired that they won't care only. You would be quite successful in keeping your cat away from the Christmas tree.
Association with loud noise
It's very easy to startle cats. Keep a handy loud noisemaker with you, & wait until your cat starts fondling with Christmas tree. As soon as cat approaches the tree, blast the noisemaker. If you think then repeat this procedure for several times. Soon your cat will relate the Christmas tree & those dangling ornaments with that loud startling noise. This would surely keep your cat away from the Christmas tree & buy some time for your Christmas tree.
Water therapy
Patience is the key for such type of pet training. Whenever your kitty lunges for the Christmas tree, spray some water over her/him. If your cat doesn't like to be wet, then it will do the trick & it will keep the cat away from the Christmas tree. But if it likes to play with water, then it's of no use.
Entire family including your pet should enjoy the spirit of Christmas. In my opinion 'isolation' is not a good way of keeping your cat away from the Christmas tree. You should try every possible way to keep your cat away from the Christmas tree, before isolating your cat in a separate room. If your cat resists the training sessions & remains persistent, then you may not have any alternative. But take good care while isolating them. Provide them with their favorite toys & of course plenty of water & food. Also don't forget to visit your cat every now & then.
Decoy Christmas tree
Find a small Christmas tree & decorate it in a similar way to your original one. This would be your kitty's personal Christmas tree. Keep it at the opposite side of the original one. Make it secure enough so that your kitty can climb up & down the tree. You must try to make this small tree the prime interest of your cat. For this you can rub a little catnip on the tree. This will make it more fascinating for your cat. Now you just have to sit back & relax & enjoy watching your cat fondling with his/her own Christmas tree. This will keep your cat away from the Christmas tree & at the same time let her/him play with their own Christmas tree.

Wish you & your cat a "Merry Christmas"!
