How to Keep Your Child from Wandering

Curiosity gets everyone's attention, especially children. Some children just like to run off. Whatever the reason, sometimes children stray from their caregiver. The easiest way to keep your child from wandering off is to lock them in their room until they are 20 possibly older. Since this in neither practical or legal, you will need to find a better method to keep your children with you and where you can see them. How can you keep your child from wandering off?

When your children are infants it is easy to keep them with you. You can carry your precious bundle in a sling. You can even use their infant car seat to transport or carry them with you at all times. When your child starts walking it is a little more difficult to keep up with him or her. You can use strollers. Strollers especially come in handy on long outings where your child may asked to be carried. There are even leashes to keep your child with you.

It is important to keep your child with you from birth. This will create a habit that they will be used to following when you go out. They will be less likely to stray far from your side. Start this habit early for a lifetime of closeness. Just be careful to not over do it. You do not want your child to be afraid to venture off on their own and learn and grow.

It is really important to pay attention to your child and see or hear what your child does. As you watch your child you will see what gets their attention. By watching your child, you may be able to stop them from wandering before they take off.

Show your child whatever gets their attention. As a parent, you are your child's first teacher. Let them see and explore new things with you. If you show your child what has captivated his or her attention, your child will have no reason to wander away from you to look at it on their own.

If you keep your children near you, pay attention to their surroundings, and show them new curiosities, they will be less likely to wander away from you. You will be able to keep them safe from danger just because you are there. Use these tips to keep your child near you and do not let your child become a statistic.

Sounds like great advice! I think those leashes are a great idea - especially when you are in a crowd. Lose sight of a child and you don't know what could happen! Great article!
