Think twice.
You may have a large amount of items that you want to sell. Each of these items require a separate listing that has its own fee associated with it. So, if you do have a lot of items, it may be wise to look over your items and see which items may be worth selling and wouldn't be. Previous eBay listings from other sellers could give you an idea of whether the item will sell or not. Minimizing the amount of listings that you have and reserve them for the most valuable items, can keep your listing fees low.
Sell multiple items.
Multiple item listings are a great way to maintain low fees while still listing a great amount of products. If you have a large amount of the same product, instead of listing them all individually, you can list them all in one fixed price listing. Buyers are given the option of purchasing multiple amounts of the same item from you all for one listing fee. You are still charged, however, for final sales on each item that is sold, no matter how you list it. Even still, this could save you a lot of money compared to listing each item, individually.
Keep prices low.
When selling your items in auctions or for fix prices, it is very tempting to set a high price for your items. However, you can face higher fees by doing so. Depending on the price you start your auctions at, you can be charged higher fees. There are fees associated with setting reserve prices on auctions. There are also final sale fees that are calculated based on the price you sell a particular item for. Most eBay sellers start their auctions at 99 cents or lower, if they are unaware of the market price. This is a good way to eliminate dead listings that end up with no bids or listings that cost you a large percentage in final sale fees.
Set fixed prices.
When selling unique items or handmade inventory, it might be a wise decision to list these at a fixed price rather then using an auction. While the fees charged for auctions can vary greatly based on the price you sell your items at, fixed price listing fees do not vary as much and are often significantly lower than that of auction listings.
Selling your items on eBay can be a very economical choice. eBay provides very low start-up costs compared to that of general retail set-ups. Minimizing listings and making wise decisions about what you choose to sell can be a great way to keep fees low and have more success on eBay.
