How to Keep Your Floor Warm This Winter
Use Radiant Heat to Keep Your Feet Warm in the Harsh Winter Cold
There are many ways to go about it including using several floor heating systems, and one of the most modern and popular ways is by employing radiant heat. While some homes have it already, if you haven't installed it under your wood, tile or laminate flooring, you're missing out on a great way to save money in the long term, to keep the feet of your entire family warm and also to protect your wood in the process.
The people who already have it installed from the time the home was built are the very lucky ones and they would never go back to the times without radiant heat. They know exactly the benefits of such a heating system offers to their home and family. Of course, when you build your home, it's much easier to install the radiant floor heating, since you're working on your under floor anyway. But it is not so difficult to install it any time after the home is ready, and you can either perform the installation on your own or hire a professional to do it. That will cost you additionally though, so if you have some DIY knowledge, you could attempt installing it alone.
But how much such an installation cost? Obviously is not as cheap as simply buying a carpet. There are two types of radiant heating systems, one is using hot water and the other one using electricity. The hydronic system (using water) is too expensive to use it for the entire home, so most people are using the electrical version. Also the electric heating system is easier to install for most people.
What you need to do when you're about to install it, is first pull up your flooring because the heating elements will go underneath your floor boards. Then you simply put back your flooring and you won't even notice that there is an extra something below them, as the elements are quite thin and don't push the flooring up.
An additional advantage of having this type of floor warming system installed is that it's much quieter than having to use the regular heating using air. Not only that but have you noticed that your skin tends to dry out quite a lot during winter? This is due to the dry air blowing constantly through the heating. This will never happen with a radiant heat system in your home. All you will get is that comfortable, easy, nice and soft warmth that you need to pull through the upcoming winter without a hitch.
