Without Making Pets Feel Unwelcome

Keeping a home clean with pets can be a challenge. In winter, pets bring mud into the house. In summer, pet fur will trap pollen and mowed grass. As pet's shed, fur will spread through your home and combine with dust to make the house smell stuffy. But a few simple tricks and any easy cleaning routine can help you keep your home clean with your pets still feeling welcome in it.

How to Keep a Home Clean with Pets by Cleaning Floors & Carpets

One perfect way to keep a home clean with pets is to vacuum it two to three times a week. If you have floors, fur will roll everywhere like dust-balls and make your home seem unclean. But simply vacuuming three times a week will solve this problem entirely. The floor will still have paw prints or smears, but these won't seem so visible once dust, dirt and fur are cleaned from your home floors. Keep your blinds facing up, so the sun strikes the ceiling instead of the floor, and your home floor will seem clean despite the pet prints and smudges.

If you have carpet in your home, keeping it clean with pets takes a little more work, but again regular cleaning is all it takes. Vacuum three times a week, then spot clean any stains. For high traffic areas, consider adding an area rug or runner in a dark pattern that will conceal pet stains. This will keep your home looking clean without your having to clean your pet's paws all the time.

How to Keep a Home Clean with Pets by Purifying the Air

How your home smells with affect how clean it feels, and with pets a home can smell stuffy. Air purifiers will clean dander, dust and fur out of the air, and leave your home smelling clean even if you have several pets. Another fun way to purify the air is to use decorative water fountains. As the water drops shatter, they release negative ions which act as air purifiers by trapping dust and dander (learn more about water fountains as air purifiers).

How to Keep a Home Clean with Pets by Covering Furniture

Because of static electricity in the air, pet fur tends to stick to fabrics and upholstery. But keeping your home clean with pets can easily be achieved by keeping your furniture looking clean. Simply spread throws on sofas or armchairs where your pets like to sit. Three times a week (after vacuuming), shake the throws outside, then spread over your furniture again. This will keep your home clean even if your pets like to sit on the furniture.

How to Keep a Home Clean with Pets by Covering Your Bed

Many pets sleep in bed with their owners. To keep a home and bedroom clean with pets can be a challenge. But by spreading an extra sheet over your bedcovers, you can trap any dirt or paw prints. Then shake the sheet outside every day, to keep your bed feeling clean. Another way to keep your bed clean with pets is to spread a soft decorative rug over it. The rug will be removed each evening and reapplied in the morning, and all the dust, dander and dirt will never reach the sheets. And simply keeping a steady cleaning routine will save you time in the end and keep your home clean with your pets feeling unhampered.
