When you are getting ready to do some crafts with your kids, you are going to need some basic materials such as construction paper, glue, kid safe scissors, crayons and or markers. You can also find various materials all around your home such as old newspapers or magazines, pencils and pens. Once you have all of your materials, you are ready to go, ready to have hours of fun with your kids!

When it comes to crafts, you do not need to have a big budget or a lot of money at all. Look for materials around the house, look for recycled materials that you might have lying around such as buttons, and water bottles, even bottle caps would be a great thing to have. If you have small children around, make sure that your materials are not going to be a hazard of any sort.

Go outside with your children, and see what you can find outside. Look for little sticks and colored leaves, anything that you can clue on a piece of paper or glue together! You can find tons of things outside that can be brought inside and be turned into a crafty masterpiece by your kids.

Collage is one of the best projects that you could get your kids started with. Collages keep kids occupied for hours on end, and they are fun for you as well. All you really need is some type of heavy paper that they can use as a background, give them the glue and let them go to town. Make the collage a learning experience and have them make a food collage, or a letters collage. By creating a themed collage you are enabling your kids to use their minds, and learn within the craft process. You can find everything you need for a collage in a magazine or a newspaper; just help your kids cut out different pictures, and let them glue them onto their paper.

For the younger kids, using noodles, and beans for craft materials is a great idea. They are simple to glue and easy to play with. There are tons of craft ideas out there, and once you find the right type of craft, your kids will have the time of their lives.
