Windows XP supports auto update. However, the auto update feature does not work adequately. Besides, many times, it downloads softwares that you do not want. Therefore, you should have Windows Update Downloader, a program that contains all the update for old version of windows like Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Server...
In order to use Windows Update Downloader properly, you must have high-speed internet connection. Besides, you have to have version 2.23 or higher.
You can download Windows Update Downloader. After installing and activating, in the main window of this software, click "Add Update List" (or the green plus symbol) to access to the website that have the update. Choose the update you want to download. For example, you can choose file Windows-xp-x86-enu.ULZ to download the update of all version of Windows XP. File *.ULZ is only about 15 KB.
After downloading the file, double click on it to add it in Windows Update Downloader's list. If you come back to the main window of Window Update Downloader but do not find the file you downloaded there, remember to click "Refresh".
There are numerous of updating files. However, you should choose the suitable one for you. Do not install update for program you never use. I recommend you to download "Critical Update" for Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player. After downloading any update, all the files will be saved into "Window Update Downloader"'s folder.
You can also copy *.exe file from your computer to another computer to update it offline. Just simply run the file. The computer will recognize and run the update automatically.
This program is a solution for people who uses old version of window to keep their computer up to date. Using only about 137 KB of your system resource, it will help you to have all the update that you need. You do not have to rely on the auto update software, which sometimes download the program that you do not need.
