The look. The smile. The first date.

At the beginning of any relationship, there is always the mystery and excitement of the new and unknown. Somewhere between then and now, many couples fall into a comfort zone that can develop into a rut. At first the comfort zone is nice because there is less pressure to impress and the feeling of comfort is better than nervousness.

It's a good thing right? WRONG! Couples often mistake this comfort for a closer level of intimacy and later find that the 'spark' in the relationship is no longer there.

Are you looking for ways to keep the excitement in your relationship? Trying to bring the 'spark' back into your life? Below are some tips and suggestions to regain or keep a fun, fresh and meaningful relationship:

Keep Dating
People often make this mistake once they have 'hooked' their significant other. They quit trying. It is very important to continue dating and keep the lines of communication open. Call, text and email your spouse just as you did when you first began dating. Designate a date night where you don't discuss the kids or work.

Don't Let Yourself Go
This goes back to the comfort zone. As the years go on, it is natural to gain a little weight here and there. After 10 or 15 years, those couple pounds a year add up to a lot of extra weight. Not only is staying fit good for your health, it is also good for your relationship. If you feel good about yourself, you'll also be more confident and attractive to your spouse. Which in turn can improve your sex life. Taking care of yourself is one of the best things you can do in a relationship.

Remember Important Dates
This may be a hard one for some people but it is very important to remember milestone dates in your relationship. Each couple has different dates that are important to them. Take note and celebrate those special moments as little milestones in your relationship.

Keep Physical Intimacy Alive
There are many factors that can contribute to a good sex life but one of the most important is being aware of what your partner likes. Even if you have a few go to positions, don't be afraid to shake it up every now and then. Try something new or ask your partner for their input. Also, don't confine physical touch to just sex: hold hands, kiss, make out and touch your partner throughout the day. The sense of touch is very powerful and provides a connection between just the two of you.

Spend Quality Time Together
Life gets busy with work, kids and other obligations but it is important to spend quality time together even if you have to schedule in that time. Do something that you both enjoy or even break out of the usual routine and try something new. Together you can pick up a new hobby or start a new project. The main point is to be together and enjoy each other's company.

Surprise Your Partner
It doesn't have to be anything grand or expensive. Small gestures like a single flower you picked from the flowerbed, a sexy note in the car dash, a sweet text during the workday or even trying out a new move in bedroom can keep the love growing in a relationship.

Ask Questions
It is super important to keep the lines of communications open. Even if you've been married fifty years, you can never learn everything about someone. Ask questions and you may be surprised by what you may learn and what you thought you knew about your spouse.
