How to Keep Yourself Interested in Blogging

Nina Rotz
There are some seriously good benefits to paid blogging, including starting a part-time website with full-time income benefits. Paid bloggers have the full control of their website content, the unique postings and the repeating visitors. The market for blogging is booming, with newcomers showing up every day. Paid blog posting is the easiest way to make additional income, and profit off of your own opinion.

Paid bloggers face two problems when continuing to run a successful website. The first is keeping their visitors interested enough to come back the second time, and the second is keeping themselves motivated enough to post unique content.

Every blogger and freelance writer hits that writer's block, the mind rut when no thoughts can be clear enough to be turned into a blog post. How do you keep yourself interested enough in your own blog? Here are a few ideas to keep you interested in blogging and to keep getting your visitors to come back;

Try to post often

Seems like common sense, right? However, due to real life challenges, posting blog entries every day can be impossible. Try to post often, even if it is three times a week. There are always interesting facts to post about, entries 250 words can sum up a funny personal story of the day or an interesting piece of news you've come across. The blog entries you post do not have to be long, 800 word postings about the deepest thoughts possible. A quick reference to something interesting happening in the world around you is sufficient enough. The world is a crazy, busy place and you can draw blog entry inspiration from every day happenings.

Utilize Twitter Plug-in

Twitter Plug-in for Wordpress has changed blogging forever. It has certainly made an impact to my world of blogging, which is why I sing its praises. Twitter is a free service, that is certainly creating a buzz in the blogosphere. Think of it as quick ways to post a rant or a new update, without logging into Wordpress. It can be utilized as a social networking tool as well, keeping you in communication with other Twitter users. There are several Twitter options available such as Twitter sidebar feeds that let the visitors know that you are busy with life but have not abandoned the blog. Check out Twitter.com for all the applications available, including tweets through text messages.

Interesting Topics

Two words define the world of blogging; unique content. Obviously, the blogging world has a lot of competition. Even the best niche markets have competitors and fellow bloggers putting their own spin on the same information. Whatever you write about be personal and write topics that interest you first. Visitors will come on their own because they share the same interests. Showing a personal enjoyment in your writing is key to keeping readers interested in coming back for more. By having interest in your writing topic, you will come back to write about it as well.

Reader Opinion Matters

Obviously, your blog is a compilation of your own thoughts and opinions. However, reader opinions matter too. Try out Wordpress Poll Plugins and see what your visitors think about a particular subject. This can be something controversial or something with humor. There are days when a blogger does not feel like blogging about something in particular, so they can ask a question instead. Wordpress.org has a list of good WP Poll plug-ins to try on your blog.

The Reader Inspiration

Similar to the previous suggestion, but the reader's comment can inspire a post. This obviously requires the visitors to be interested enough to comment on a blog post. Sometimes it is okay to even shamelessly ask for a comment. For example, a blogger may post asking for suggestions and what the visitors would like to see on the website. Or a sports blogger may post an entry about their favorite team and a visitor may comment on that blog entry about why this team is not great and how much they like another team. So the blogger can start somewhat of a rivalry, creating a controversial post about why their team is better than all the rest.

Fill out a Weekly Questionnaire

Thedailymeme.com is an interesting blogging tool. It is a quiz a blogger can fill out and post the results on their site. When you have absolutely no inspiration to write, try answering a serious of questions and you'll have an entire blog post. Then you can watch visitors comment on the answers with their own.

Post a Blog, Get paid

The world should not revolve around money but in all seriousness it does. Paid blogging can earn you extra income, or even lead you down a path of freelance writing. There are bloggers earning a full time income with the freedom of working for themselves. Get involved with websites such as payperpost.com, by accepting paid blogging opportunities you'll have something to write about and get paid for it.

This list of tips should help give you ideas for keeping yourself interested in the blogging world. Keep focus on what you are achieving with the blog, such as an interesting and popular website with visitors that love coming back to read your blog posts.
