The way you live generally dictates how you are going to look. Little things like taking a multi-vitamin every day, paying attention to your posture, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, these are all little things we can do to improve our appearance without a great struggle. Other things like eating healthy green vegetables and lots of fruit and getting the right amount of fiber is also important. Women especially must exercise to fight of the ravages of things like Osteoporosis. Women have less bone density then men do, and need estrogen to keep their bones strong.
Follow the tips below and implement them in your life to feel and look much younger.
Eyes
There are many treatments, to soothe and prevent shadows, bags and circles under your eyes. Placing two slices of either chilled cucumber or chilled potato on your eyes for 15 minutes will get rid of the dark circles under your eyes. Up late last night? For puffy eyes you can use either green tea or chamomile teabags that have been soaked in water. Chamomile is an anti-inflammatory and will help bring down the puffiness in your eyes by constricting the small blood vessels.
If you notice sagging around the eyes, and want to use a more natural approach to your makeup routine, take a clean paintbush and apply a thin layer of egg white with warm water. The albumin in the egg white will help pull the skin taut. Last but not least. Keeping a spoon in the freezer and putting it against your eyelids for a few moments will reduce redness and puffiness.
Skin
The first sign of aging is the appearance of your skin. It starts to wrinkle, or sag. It looks dry, rough or yellow (depending if you are a smoker). Exercising regularly increases circulation and delivery of nutrients to skin cells, taking away potentially damaging toxins.
Water is another helpful element in good skin. Eight to ten 8-ounce glasses of water per day will improve the appearance of your skin. Water is the best defense against the free radical damage of oxidation. If drinking a lot of caffeine or alcohol, water consumption should be increased since they both can dehydrate you. Fruit juice and tea are both good, however water is still the best for your skin.
A good moisturizer is also important as we age. Over time the skin thins and dries out, leaving it susceptible to damage. Using a good moisturizer will reduce the signs of aging and will revitalize your skin temporarily. Some ingredients to look for are silicone, lanolin, shea butter, cocoa butter collagen and elastin.
Hands
A good indicator of your age, more than your face, is your hands. Caring for your hands regularly will allow you to keep them looking young and supple. Hands that are dry, yellowed, or calloused give the wrong impression. Keeping rubber gloves handy for washing dishes and keeping the contact to harsh chemicals and cleaners to a minimum is best.
Again, it is best to apply moisturiser on a regular basis. Harsh weather conditions also take their toll on your hands, drying your skin out with cold or getting burnt in the summer. Using both sunscreen and gloves in the winter will eliminate or limit this. Getting your hands manicured will also make you feel years younger.
Smoking
None of these tips and hints will help more than quitting smoking. It not only makes you look better in appearance, it also makes you look smart. Smoking is the leading cause of several life-threatening diseases and can make you look haggard.
Smoker's cough is not attractive and is very common among smokers. Smoking also causes wrinkling around the mouth and eyes. Luckily, today it is easier to quit since the advent of patches and nicotine gum.
Teeth
No one will argue that a bright, white smile is extremely attractive. Looking after your teeth will not only help your appearance but your health as well. Many ailments are related to bad teeth or teeth that have not been taken care of properly. Procedures such as whitening or bleaching for your teeth can enhance your appearance dramatically.
Through regular exercise, healthy diet and avoiding the sun you can slow down or even reverse some signs of aging. Using sunblock when outdoors will also prevent or slow down the aging process. Taking care of your skin is also quite important. Use moisturiser every day and exfoliate regularly. These simple tips will allow you to keep your youthful appearance as long as possible.
