How to Keyword Optimize Your eBay Listing

Jim Posey
eBay has absolutely exploded since its launch and has become a virtual marketplace for any ridiculous item that anyone might have. However, there are a lot of people who can make some serious money on eBay by taking it seriously. There are two elements for a successful eBay listing. There is a demand for the product being auctioned off and there has to be enough traffic of targeted visitors to be able to be able to drive up the price as high as the market will allow. Keyword optimizing your eBay listing is a great way to get more traffic to your product without compromising the integrity of your auction.

Keywords are simply significant phrases that are used repeatedly in the text of the web page. Search engines are constantly scraping the web searching for pages with highly relevant keywords that they can put up as high results in their search pages. Search engines are the gateways for huge amounts of traffic. This traffic is highly targeted as well because the people type in exactly what they are looking for and expect to find it. Traffic that is isn't targeted is effectively useless. Whatever you do don't waste your money buying bulk traffic from websites promising one thousand visitors for twenty dollars or what ever. These visitors are not targeted and will be a big waste of money, especially when you consider that for the same amount of money you could pay someone to keyword optimizes your eBay listing.

The first place to start keyword optimizing your eBay page is on your eBay store. This is where you tell your visitors a little about who you are and what you sell. What a perfect place to fit in keyword! You should have a very deep niche to cater to if you want to reap the benefits of highly targeted traffic from search engines. Always try to be as specific as possible when choosing your keyword. For example, you if you sell books, you may want to say that you sell first edition books or collectable books with damaged spines. As long as you are being highly specific and there is a market out there for your goods you will get the benefits of having your keywords listed high in search engines.

Once you have your keywords picked out you can add them to your store categories, and sub categories. Remember to make it natural; don't try to stuff your ads full of useless keywords.
