Examples- Make sure that your kid has good examples of police officers while he/she is growing up. Make sure your child is involved in meeting and talking to policemen throughout his/her life.

Playtime- Playtime is a great time for kids to learn about what they want to be when they grow up. Purchase play police gear for your kid and encourage him/her to be the policeman while he/she is playing. This will further reinforce the idea of him/her becoming a policeman when he/she grows up.

Staying out of Trouble- Policemen have to have a clean record and an above the board reputation. That means that you have to make sure your kids know the importance of staying out of trouble throughout his/her life. If he/she can't do that, it isn't likely that he/she will be able to be a policeman when he/she grows up.

Teach the Importance of Law Enforcement- Teaching your children the importance of law enforcement and what an important role it plays in society will help make him/her want to become a policeman when he/she grows up. Law enforcement is necessary to keep our society safe.

Avoid Bad Examples- Don't allow your child to be barraged with information about bad policemen that have been caught doing bad things. This will encourage your child to believe that all policemen are bad and keep them from wanting to become one.

Avoid Talking about Shootings- Don't encourage your child to watch the news about when the police have to shoot someone or when someone shoots at them. It puts the entire idea of growing up to be a policeman in a bad light. It can make it too scary for young children to want to think about being a police officer.

Be Respectful- One of the best ways to get your kid to grow up to be a policeman is to be respectful to the police. If you don't show respect for law enforcement, it isn't likely that your kid will want to grow up to be a part of it.
