How to Get Your Kids to Wash Their Hands

Johanna Swith
Getting kids to wash their hands is not always an easy task. Why hand washing ranks as a punishment among children is beyond me. In all fairness getting some adults to wash up is equally difficult. I personally know ten adults who will admit they do not wash their hands at all. That means really I probably know twenty adults who don't wash their hands, when you consider how many people are simply dis honest.

When you are around children a lot you know they can be downright gross. No offense intended here, but kids spread an astronomical amount of germs each day. Kids are notorious for not washing up after using the restroom, or playing. Kids eat, hug and touch with dirty hands, spreading illness to others.

The invention of hand sanitizer is a genius wonderful thing. Hand sanitizer has saved the day for me so many times, I seriously could not imagine a day without it. Now companies who produce this fantastic product are attempting to appeal to younger consumers with a variety of scented hand sanitizers. Hand Sanitizers are now scented in fun fragrances like " Scary Berry" and "Outrageous Orange". Kids not only like the scents, but the color appeals to the younger crowds also.

Hand Sanitizers are fortified with vitamin E and aloe to help keep the skin soft and moisturized. If you can't wash your hands, for whatever reason, such as not having access to a sink when it is needed, makes hand sanitizer similar to liquid gold. The invention of hand sanitizer also makes your child safe to hug again!

If you are the parent of a child old enough to be trusted with a bottle of hand sanitizer, please arm your child with a bottle of their own. If your child fights hand washing, please educate them on the spread of germs, and show them how to properly use hand sanitizer, and to use it after restroom breaks, petting dogs, and before and after eating. Really it would be terrific if you could just get your kids to wash their hands. However , that is easier said than done, and hand sanitizer is an acceptable, and sanitary solution to the problem of not hand washing.

At any drug tore, grocery store or dollar store you can purchase a variety of sizes, and "flavors". At Dollar Tree, you can purchase two bottles per package that are an ideal size for travel, and these are a great stocking stuffer for the holiday season.
