It happens to each an every one of us, no matter how much we try to avoid it. You can be in your car waiting to pump gas, for a light to turn green, or being stuck in traffic. You could be stuck waiting forever in a doctors office, or waiting in line to check out your shopping card at a retailer or grocery store. Humans are impatient by nature, and Americans are no exception. The vast majority of the world wants to rush on to do the next thing in our self centered existence, however when we have to wait we quickly become irritated. There are several things one can do to kill time and enjoy oneself while waiting.

Use your cell phone

Everyone has a cell phone these days. Phones aren't just used for talking to people anymore either. You can send and read your text messages while you are waiting. Chances are that there are games on your phone that you can play to pass the time. Most phones can go onto the internet these days., and if so there is a multitude of different websites that you can go to. There are even applications that will let you read entire books on your phone. Having a cell phone on you will ensure that you are never bored and have a way to kill time while waiting.

Make a list

Chances are, there are things that you need to do. Take the time you have while waiting to make a list of things that you need to do. It doesn't matter if it is a list of groceries to pick up the next time you go shopping, or a list of chores that need to be done when you get home. Having a few minutes to yourself will let you think of all the things that you need to do, so that you won't forget anything.

Relax!

One of the best things that you can do to kill time while waiting is to simply relax. Take the time that would normally irritate you and instead turn it into a boon. Having to wait in line to buy your groceries can become precious moments of discovering your inner self. Collect yourself and take a deep breath. Chances are you've had a hard day and could use some rest. Close your eyes. Don't worry, the person behind you will beep their horn or make remark when it's your turn to go.
