How Do You Know when You Hear the Voice of God?

Cory Mitchell
For the sake of brevity, let us cut right to the core of the matter. Anyone can talk to God, an angel or a spirit guide. Not only mediums or those that elevate themselves above others proclaiming they are spiritually gifted process this ability. The reason many of us never hear God to begin with is because we have never bothered to listen. This may be because we don't actually believe we will hear God, or simply have to much going on in our heads to hear what God is saying.

We have freewill in this world, and that means God will not impose in our life. Our life is up to us, and thus we must seek God out. God cannot reveal Him(Her)self to us until we truly ask, for to do so would most certainly change our life, and thus violate our freewill to choose our own path. Some people are ready for this God experience in a moment, and others it will take a lifetime. Some attain this while on a journey to enlightenment, and others attain it by hitting rock bottom and having no where else to go. But the process is very simple, as we shall see.

Let us move back to our original question: How you know when you hear the voice of God? The questions asked has a fundamental flaw in it. The question pre-assumes that there is a separation between God and Your or I. In order to hear and understand we must realize that we are one with God, and not separate. If you were to meet someone new, you may hear the words they were saying, but since you don't know their background at all, you will not really know what those words mean. You may not understand their sarcasm, their jokes, when they are being serious, if they take themselves seriously, if they are telling you something so you will do something else...you just don't really know. But once you get to really know someone, that best friend or lover whom you consider almost one with you, you have a much greater understanding of what they are saying. And so it is with God.

By quieting our minds and listening to God we will begin to hear Him. In time we will begin to understand Her. This will take place after we realize that it is not I and God, but simply God, for I is included in God. Everything is one, and when we understand that fully the voice of God will be loud and the message clear.

This is a gradual process and for most people will take time and practice. Just as we can not hear or understand what someone else is saying if we are deep in thought, it is even harder for us to hear the often subtle (at first) voices and messages we receive from outside of the physical plane if we are immersed in our own selfish thoughts. For a small portion of our day we must set aside everything and simply focus on our oneness with God and universe, and very soon we will clearly hear what we need to hear.

Our conversations may be in an audible voice, but this is fairly rare. Most interactions will take place in our mind. Although, you will know it is not your own thoughts. The message may be distinct and like nothing you would have come up with on your own. If your mind is calm and peaceful, you will have no doubt that you are experiencing something from outside the physical plane - a communication from God.
