American households across the United States are continuing to pay high tuition costs because they are hoping to land themselves or their children better paying jobs. College is not necessarily the answer anymore. Many people that graduate from colleges with a 4.0 are having difficulties finding good jobs in today's tough economy. However, they are still choosing to go back to school in order to find a better paying job.
When it comes down to it, people choose to go to college because they feel that their college degree will help them to land a better job. If it was just about the education, then someone could easily just pick up a book and learn from it or attend a non-accredited college or university that would ultimately save them thousands of dollars in tuition costs.
Colleges are making big money on people going to college or trade school. Their television ads are blasted across television stations across the world boasting that their degrees and certificates will help you to get the job. There isn't one single American college or trade school that will guarantee you a job after graduation, however they will continue to tell you that their college or trade school is the best and that many students receive a quality education. However, most college graduates never find their dream job. Is college just a hoax? Does it really help you to get the job of your choice?
College is not the answer to the American dream any longer. Some people have enough college education and still cannot find a decent job. If this is you, then obviously something else is wrong. Most people today are finding jobs because they know someone that works in a company. They may not even have the job skill that they are looking for, but they can get a job working in the company itself. Getting a job has very little to do with education anymore. What you do need is some job skill and a good connection with someone that works in a fantastic company who could get you into their company. In today's society, you don't have to have a degree to get ahead unless of course you are trying to work in an area that actually requires you to have a degree such as a lawyer or a doctor. Some professions demand that you have a college degree, but most jobs do not. You should definitely go to college if you feel that it will better your job skills. However, don't go back to college if you are only going back to college because you cannot find a job and you are just going back to school to make yourself feel better. You may instead need to polish up your resume, hire a job hunter or take your resume door to door asking for work. There is nothing wrong with good old fashioned knocking on the door sales work.
Many people go back to school hoping that it will give them a greater chance of landing a job, when really it will only put them in more debt. If you already have a college degree, then I suggest that you don't go back to school. Ask friends, family and a job hunting services to point out anything that they can see about you that may appear to come off as negative. Some people don't realize that they may actually be doing something that is turning potential employers away. Some people are horrible dressers and others look like they are just sloppy. You can tell a lot about a person by just looking at them. Remember that we live in an extremely superficial society and not everyone is going to believe that we should "love one another for who we are inside." Some people only care about what you look like on the outside and don't really care who you are as a person within yourself. Many jobs are given to people just because the employer thinks that they are a nice person or seem to be well dressed or well mannered. You don't have to be "Einstein" to land a good job today. You just have to know someone that can get you in.

Post a CommentNot sure I agree with your findings. Every job website I have been on and every job posting I have looked at from Jan 09 - May 09 requires at least a Bachelors degree and in many cases, many years of experience. I'm not alone in my view of this, most people layed off from their jobs are finding employers are asking for a lot i.e. education and experience.
