It is surprising how little many couples know about each, even after they get married. Often it is the case that when two people start dating they aren't people truthful about who they are and thus misconceptions arise about each other. It is imperative to let the other person really get to know the real you. Although it doesn't hurt to put on the best example of you, but don't tell someone you love kids, when you really don't. Or at least state that right now, kids are not for you; be honest.
After the marriage, it is still quite possible to get to know each other. This is a bit more awkward however, since there is the underlying notion that you two should already have this knowledge about each other. Shrug it off, make a joke about it, do whatever you have to do in order to dispel these thoughts as it will make and reinforce walls that might be up already around this subject.
Questions are the real key here. You and your spouse need to know what the best questions are and they usually revolve around the same core principles- money, sex, children and family, and lifestyles.
These are some of the core items that a couple should know about each other. Do you have the knowledge that you need to know about your husband or wife, so that you know, without a doubt, what your spouse thinks about kids and the future? If you even have a shadow of a doubt you really need to start communicating better with them. Find out what they think, don't be afraid to get in their and talk about the hard stuff- the great stuff about life!
