IndigoRacer
It only takes a few moments to figure out what your federal tax bracket is. Everyone should know how much they are getting taxed on their earned income.

First you need to understand that there is six tax brackets. Your tax bracket is determined from your earned income. The tax brackets are as follows:

  • 10% Bracket
  • 15% Bracket
  • 25% Bracket
  • 28% Bracket
  • 33% Bracket
  • 35% Bracket

Second, there are four filing status categories in which you will fall into when filing your taxes.

  • Married filing separately
  • Single
  • Head of Household
  • Married filing jointly or qualifying widow(er)
Once you figure out your taxable income and what your filing status will be, you are ready to determine your tax bracket. I will break it down by filing status:
If you are married filing separately and your taxable income is up to:
  • $8,025 = 10% bracket
  • $32,550 = 15% Bracket
  • $65,725 = 25% Bracket
  • $100,150 = 28% Bracket
  • $178,850 = 33% Bracket
  • over $178,850 = 35% Bracket

If you file single and your taxable income is up to:
  • $8,025 = 10% Bracket
  • $32,550 = 15% Bracket
  • $78,850 = 25% Bracket
  • $164,550 = 28% Bracket
  • $357,700 = 33% Bracket
  • over $357,700 = 35% Bracket

If you file as Head of Household and your taxable income is up to:
  • $11,450 = 10% Bracket
  • $43,650 = 15% Bracket
  • $112,650 = 25% Bracket
  • $182,400 = 28% Bracket
  • $357,700 = 33% Bracket
  • over $357,700 = 35% Bracket

If you file as married filing jointly or qualifying widow(er) and your taxable income is up to:
  • $16,050 = 10% Bracket
  • $65,100 = 15% Bracket
  • $131,450 = 25% Bracket
