How I Know There's Going to Be a Halo 4

Don Peysum
Since Microsoft and Bungie released Halo 3 (who am I kidding, even before Halo 3 was released) for the Xbox 360, rumors and questions about whether or not a Halo 4 would ever come into existence have been circulating 'round the net. Given Halo 3's ending featuring the strongly implied death of the game's protagonist, Master Chief, many fans believe Bungie has decided to stick to a trilogy and never release a 4th game in the Halo series. I, for one, seriously doubt Halo 3 will be the end of Master Chief's intergalactic adventure. I'm almost certain Bungie will be releasing a Halo 4 and here's a few reasons why:

Microsoft and Bungie are making plenty of money thanks to Halo: The Halo series is still very profitable. This alone is more than reason enough for Bungie to release another game in the series. Halo 3 racked up $170 million in sales on it's release date alone, shattering previous entertainment launch records. With these kind of sales figures, it's clear that people are still interested in the Halo series. The people running the show at Microsoft and Bungie would be fools not milk this cash cow for all it's worth and create a 4th Halo game.

The Halo 3 Ending After the Credits: What some players may not know is that if you stick around through the credits of Halo 3, there's more to the ending. Surprise surprise, Master Chief is alive! This secondary ending shows Master Chief and Cortana alive and well aboard the
ship they escaped the Halo ring from the final mission on. After a touching genetically enhanced super-soldier and advanced computer AI moment, Master Chief is shown standing in some sort of hibernation chamber, similar to the one he wakes up in during the opening mission of the first Halo game. So the Chief's clearly alive thus the theory that Halo 4 won't be released due to his death is debunked.

There's a lot of unfinished story that leaves room for a sequel: Halo 3 wraps up a lot of loose ends but not all of them. There's still several questions to be answered such as where exactly all those sentinels seen leaving the Arc are headed. Not to mention that I'm sure any Halo fan would love to know more details about the Forerunner race and it's history. I believe Microsoft and Bungie will answer these questions in a 4th Halo game

The Halo 3 Legendary Ending: Unless you're actually good enough to beat Halo 3 on it's legendary difficulty setting (or watched the video on Youtube like I did), you probably don't know about yet another ending to Halo 3. This ending appears after the post-credits ending if you beat the game on Legendary. It shows the ship Master Chief is hibernating in drifting towards an unidentified object that appears to be a planet. As the ship draws closer, an eerie light shines from the other side of the planet-like object and ominous, suspenseful music begins to play before the screen fades to black. Many believe this "planet" is actual Onyx, a shield world created by the forerunners that is mentioned in a Halo book. If this isn't Bungie setting us up for a sequel, I don't know what is. As far as I'm concerned, this practically guarantees that a Halo 4 will be released.

noone, joseph, bungie said halo reach made by bungie they didnt say anything about it being the last game since they were bought out they will probably be makeing a fourth game with the new company

  • Noone7/13/2010

Joseph is right Bungie said that Halo reach will be the last of the halo series but that dosen't mean that bungie ain't going to tell and make other games about the other parts of the wars before halo.

  • joseph7/10/2010

No there will not be a halo 4 because Bungie said that reach will be the last halo game but I think they should make other games about the other Spartans and colonies of Earth.

Halo 4 must be released so they can tie up lose ends because if they kill of Chief they wont he will proberbly be dismissed or die of old age. Ill prefer the dismissed where he proberbly starts training new spartans (if they make new ones) or he starts to work at Mc Donalds
