Fels Naptha laundry soap comes in bar form, and it has been around for a very long time. My mother still uses it along with a scrub brush to work stains out of clothing, and it is very effective. What many people do not realize is that Fels Naptha laundry soap can be transformed from bar form to liquid form, and it can be used in place of ordinary liquid detergent. Try the following easy way to make laundry soap with a bar of Fels Naptha, and save money over ready-made liquid detergent that might not work as well. Fels Naptha has been used to effectively clean clothing and other fabrics for more than 100 years, and the history of this laundry soap speaks for itself. Try my mother's favorite homemade laundry soap recipe, and save a considerable amount of money.

Precautionary Statement

This homemade laundry soap made with Fels Naptha requires a deep bucket. Small children can fall into deep buckets and drown or become seriously injured. Never store open buckets within reach of children.

Fels Naptha Liquid Laundry Soap Supplies

To make liquid laundry soap with Fels Naptha that will also whiten and brighten fabrics you will need 1 ½ cups of borax powder, 1 ½ cups of washing soda, a deep bucket, eighteen cups of hot tap water to begin with, and one bar of Fels Naptha soap. You will also need a handheld grater, a stock pot, and a long-handled wooden spoon. A tall utility bucket is ideal when making and storing homemade liquid detergent. They can be purchased new from home improvement stores, and they also include a lid.

Procedurefor Making Fels Naptha Laundry Soap

Begin by grating the entire bar of Fels Naptha soap into the large kettle. Pour in eighteen cups of hot tap water, and place the mixture over medium heat. Stir it until the grated Fels Naptha soap completely melts. Stir in the borax and washing soda until it fully dissolves.

To make this concentrated Fels Naptha laundry soap into a useable product, pour twelve cups of hot water into a clean bucket. Blend in the aforementioned Fels Naptha mixture. Pour in an additional three gallons and eighteen cups of hot tap water into the bucket, and stir it thoroughly with a long-handled wooden spoon or another sturdy tool that can be used for stirring.

Allow this mixture to remain undisturbed until it forms a gel-like consistency. After it slightly gels, store it with the lid in place, or transfer smaller amounts to empty laundry detergent bottles. Shake it or stir it before each use.

Directions for Using Fels Naptha Liquid Laundry Soap

Use one-half cup of homemade Fels Naptha laundry soap for each large load. Add more or less according to the softness or hardness level of the water and according to the amount of soil in the fabric. Experiment with various amounts and find the perfect solution. A laundry booster can be added if the fabric is extremely dirty.

One bar of Fels Naptha soap makes about six gallons of laundry detergent, and depending on the number of loads washed each week, it should last a long time. It costs just pennies compared to store-bought laundry detergent, and it works just as well - possibly even better than the most popular store brands. I have been using this homemade Fels Naptha laundry soap for my family, and the results have been nothing short of exceptional.
