How to Lead a Happy Life

Rocky Kamau
The road to happiness is the road less traveled. It takes a lot a great deal of optimism and patience to be happy. We read about the success and accomplishments of great people, rags-to-riches billionaires, award-winning entertainers and famous individuals but how many of them are genuinely happy?

Saying this would be such a cliché but there's a great deal of happiness found in simple and small things. Happiness is not about the awards we reap in a lifetime, the bundles of money we have in the bank, or the number of times we got promoted. Happiness is being able to smile in spite of the adversities in our lives; it is the contentment and satisfaction we feel everyday in spite of our loss of jobs, deaths of loved ones, high-interests of our loans or even a failed marriage.

Optimism:
Optimism plays a big role in being happy with our lives. Having a positive attitude makes life easier and bearable. Remember that we are what we think. If we keep on telling ourselves that we are hopeless and good-for-nothing creatures, then there's exactly nothing to be happy about!

It's a Matter of Perception:
Happiness is a matter of perception. It is how we see things, ourselves and the world around us. To live a happy life you must see that the glass of water is not half-empty; you have to be optimistic, so it should be seen as half-full. We should stop complaining about roses having thorns. It must be perceived the other way around: thorns have roses.

Happiness is being in love with your life, in love with everything that is happening around you and within your own self. It is finding comfort and satisfaction without expecting anything in return.

Ways to be happy:
Fairly a number of people came up of ways to be happy. Some of these thoughts and suggestions might work for you, but to some these may not. But whatever may or may not work for you, true happiness is still attainable. It is just simply the willingness and the determination to see life in a new perception that can make you truly happy.

* Be optimistic. Optimism is a powerful tool. You are what you think.
* Love yourself. Find time for yourself and get the freedom to pursue great moments with your self and loved ones. Do things that make you happier and livelier.
* Find stress relieving activities. Look for stress relievers so you can be more relax when things are a bit frenzied.
* Enjoy and indulge in the joys that small things bring. Admire sunsets and sunrise. Take a walk. Paint or sing to your heart's content.
* Choose to be happy. It all boils down to the decisions we make in life. If you choose to be genuinely happily, then you will be happy. Your decision to be happy gets rid of your negativity as a person.

Happiness is contagious. If you are a happy person more people will be happy to be around you. Your presence to others is light and warm. Live you life happily and inspire others to be happy too.
