How Can Leadership Play a Greater Role in Promoting AIDS Awareness?

A recent study in New York showed that the number of HIV/AIDS affected men in US who has some relationship with other male partner has been increased significantly in last two years. With so many campaigns for AIDS awareness the success rate of increasing awareness is not as expected. We need to find out what is the main cause protecting us to achieve our goal.

In today's scenario it is hard to find out the self-respect and self-believe within us. People are more concern on short term amusements of life. You have to believe that you are the sailor of your own life. You have to bring the faith on the leader you possess. Each person can be a leader in some means in their daily life. You have to take control of your own life. I think 'Ignite the Leadership of Your Mind' is the real theme of AIDS awareness campaigns.

The Theme 'Leadership'
The theme 'leadership' of World AIDS Day 2007 and 2008 came from the past experience when AIDS awareness touched the maximum with a prominent and useful leadership. Leaders are those people having a defined vision with innovative ideas & actions can foresee the effect at its earlier stage. The year 2006 was the worst year so far in respect of increasing AIDS infected in compare to any previous years. World leaders agreed on few commitments for increasing AIDS awareness and helping to stop spreading AIDS. Unfortunately we failed to keep those promises and as a result we lost 25 million of people so far.

How Leadership Can Do It?
Study showed that the number of AIDS affected people are more in two types of environments - firstly among poor people with lack of knowledge and secondly among rich people with no discipline in life. For both of these types of people we see a kind of poor knowledge. For poor people we need to make them know about this epidemic and for well-educated people leading an uncontrolled life we need to make them know about the importance of discipline in life. Leader has to ignite the inner leadership nature of every human and need to change the way we look at AIDS today. With versatility of nature and people of this world it is difficult to lead this huge campaign of AIDS awareness by particular one leader.

Leadership is the key solution of achieving this awareness goal. We need leader with proper plan and appropriate implementation scope. We need leaders at every levels of society to fight with this epidemic. We, each individual needs to be our own leader of life and the global leader has to concentrate on the fact that the pace of spreading awareness about AIDS needs to be more than the pace at which the people are getting affected by AIDS. Global leaders have to spread the words that this is not very difficult to make the world free of AIDS, we need to counter attack the problem with our sincerest interest.
