How to Get Lean Muscle: 3 Ways a Camera Can Help You Gain Lean Muscle

The perfect body is coveted by everyone. I don't know of one person who hasn't looked at themselves in the mirror and wished that they were taller, less fat, etc. Image is obviously the main factor that pushes someone to improve their body. Wouldn't it be good to look in the mirror and feel good about yourself instead? You know, you can use image to change your body, instead of using it to attack yourself. How? By using a camera! Combined with exercise the three tips in this article will make a noticeable change in your body with a great start to the year.

1. Take pictures of the food, everything you're eating.

Now I can't take credit for this tip, I read it from a newspaper recently. It's pretty clever, since not only by going through all the photos of food you've eaten can help you track down where you're gaining excess weight, it will give you a little guilt trip every time you take a photo of something naughty you've eaten. Anyway around it, you're actively breaking what is usually an semi-conscious process.

2. Take photos of yourself every month/week/day.

This is another common technique that people use to monitor their progress. Some people find writing down their specific sets, reps, time periods, exercises, etc too tedious to note down in a log book and only focus on results. That's OK, as long as you give it 100% to guarantee yourself that in the next photo you take, you will see some change from the last. An extension of this technique is also using video and recording each session you do and uploading it to your computer to keep a video log. Better yet, upload it to a blog or something like that. Anyone who stumbles upon it might come back to see how you're doing the next time a new video is up!

3. Make video logs of how you're feeling.

This is a natural extension of the previous point, but it focuses on the important emotional aspect of a work out. No doubt, if you've worked out strenuously before, you might have felt like you were going to puke, or felt like you weren't getting anywhere. Feel free to talk about it! But make sure you record it for yourself. How does this help? If you're ever feeling down and out, look back at some old videos of yourself when you were just starting off. Try and notice the wide range of emotions you were feeling: happiness at having gained lean muscle weight, frustration at not hitting your weight goal, anger at injuring yourself... the list goes on. Just realize that all emotions are ephemeral and will usually be gone by the workout.

If you want to work out and finally see some results, it's amazing how many ways a camera can help you get them. Be creative! Don't let me limit you with these three points. Just remember to get everything recorded as proof when you do find yourself sexy and shredded!
