Learning a new language is fun, beneficial and challenging. Here are a few tips and suggestions as to how you could learn a new language in a short period of time:

1. Totally immerse yourself. Even if you are not learning a new language in a new country you can still immerse yourself in it by listening to on your way to work, while exercising, while cooking, while cleaning and so on. Try using sticky notes around your home and workplace to refresh your memory of words and phrases. Immersion is one of the best ways to learn a new language.

2. Start reading books, websites and literature that are in the language you wish to learn. Even if you cannot understand what the heck it says you will start to get used to the way it is written, its structure and so on.
TOP TIP: Try listening to recordings of the language you want to learn while you are relaxing and even sleeping, this way you will sublimely be learning and you will be picking up the language its ins and outs even when you think that you are not.

3. Get yourself a language buddy. This could be an online buddy, a real buddy and so on. Get help learning the language from a native. Put an advert in your local press or newspaper to see if anyone in or around your area can help you learn the lingo quicker. REMEMBER though to be careful if/when meeting people who you have never met before, check that they are genuine and keep on your guard up all the time.

4. Talk out loud. By this I mean talk out loud in the language, practice words, sentences and phrases to get you into the swing of things.

5. Get into the culture, by this I mean start learning about the culture, places of interest and so on relating to your new language.
TOP TIP: Try writing, reading and speaking aloud when learning your new language.

A VERY IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER IS THAT YOU CAN Go to your local library and use their language resources, from worksheets to language tapes and CDs, you could save both money, time and energy.
