First, you must know that there are many countries that speak Spanish, and they are not the same, although there are many words that are. Vowels are a very important part of speaking spanish correctly. The vowels A, E, I, O, U are easy to learn, but you must practice them often. It may sound obsurd, but most beginners forget the correct way to say lhem because they want to pronounce them as if they were English letters.
Here is how you would pronounce them.
A - oh
E - eh
I - ee
o - oh
u - oo
Like the alphabet song, say these over and over, so that you do not forget when learning new vocabulary.
Here are a few other letters you will need to know how to pronunciate correctly to speak spanish.
H is always silent. If you come across a Spanish would that has this letter, do not use it like an English letter.
J always sounds like an H in English. Javier isounds like this in English, Hah vee air.
RR is very difficult if you have problems twirling your tongue, like rrrrr, but you can not sound it out like an R in English. It will not sound correct.
R is most cases, has a slight d sound. Like caro (cheap), it would sound like this in English, cah do.
LL sounds like a Y in English. For example, calle (street), sounds like this, cah yeah.
ѐ looks like this, piñata, and sounds like this, peen yah ta, like an English N and a Y together.
GU or QU, when these two letters are together like this, the U is always silent. For example, guitarra (guitar), it sounds like this, gee tah rrrrah.
Now that you have learned some basic letters sounds in Spanish, practice saying these words using the above examples.
