How to Leave a Job Gracefully

Hold your head high, with dignity and grace. Know you've done your level best. Tell co-workers what you have learned from all of them. Let them know you will miss them, and ask them to stay in touch. This helps the leaving process feel better.

Write a card of appreciation to all of your co-workers and boss. Put this card in the employee's lunchroom or on a bulletin board by the time clock. These are a few ways of showing appreciation that will also leave you with lasting friendships.

The last day of working in your place of employment, co-workers, will usually throw a party. Lots of food and laughter will make the day go by a little easier. Tell everyone thank you, and you'll miss them. Talk about all the good times you shared while working with them. If several people show up at the party that you barely know, still let them feel your appreciation. When you do, this makes the person want to find out more about the person leaving. A feeling of hope will be there at the end of the last hour. The boss may be standing by the front door. He may have a flower basket, to say thank you for all your hard work. Thank the boss for teaching you many valuable things. You may want your job back someday.

When leaving a job gracefully, you're leaving a lasting impression. The last impression you leave may be the reason why he gives you a second chance someday. You may feel after a year has gone by that you've made a mistake. You may want to come back to your old job.

Think about your last day at work at your latest job. Did you leave gracefully or not? If you left a good impression on everyone, including the boss, they'll always be glad you stopped in to talk to them. Making friends and keeping them, are important. Yes, you go to work to work, and when its break time, it's time to make a friend or two.

Remember why you started this job in the first place. Keeping a good job these days can be a struggle. Many people can help, there many job opportunities, by leaving there past jobs gracefully. Good workers aren't easily forgotten. Good workers can be hard to find. If your previous boss is hiring, and he knows you're looking for a job, it could be your lucky day. The past experience with you may prove beneficial. When leaving your previous job, what last impression did you make? Leaving a job gracefully can help you transition better into your new job. No regrets will be hanging over your head.

How to leave a job gracefully is as important, as how you start a new one. Do it with a smile on your face, and a thankful heart.
