The economy is experiencing recession and this brings with it a lack of jobs, redundancy and bankruptcy to those with their own businesses. Many thousands of people can not make ends meet and have trouble putting food on the table and managing their daily expenses never mind the small luxuries we have come to expect. The answer to this is credit cards, which may seem like the best solution but in actual fact they do more harm than good. Legally eliminating credit card debt can be fruitless and the urge and temptation to keep using your credit card when you are in debt is ever increasing as you long for a life of luxuries. Once the credit card debt starts there is only way onwards and that is down. As the months pass more purchases are placed on your credit card and the minimum monthly payment keeps increasing.

However there are several ways to legally eliminate credit card debt. The best and number one way to legally eliminate credit card debt is simply to stop using your credit card. This may seem like a hard task but it is one which must be employed to legally eliminate credit card debt. Perhaps hide your credit cards, and set yourself a limit, say $50 which can only be put on the credit card each month. If this does not work then perhaps it is time to cut up your credit card for good.

Secondly if you have several different loan payments or credit cards why not go for credit card consolidation and combine all your debts onto one credit card. Credit card consolidation is a much easier way for people to manage their debts and focus on making one payment back a month rather than making several payments to several credit cards. This will help you to legally eliminate credit card debt. Every month try and pay as much off your credit card as possible. If you only pay back the minimum amount then you will end up paying more and more interest on your credit card long term. Finally to legally eliminate credit card debt draw up a monthly budget in order to examine areas where you can cut back on spending. This will allow you to put more money towards your monthly credit card payment in order to legally eliminate credit card debt.

In order to legally eliminate credit card debt one must understand first why they went into credit card debt in the first place. Second, you must learn to use your credit card for emergencies only. In order to legally eliminate your credit card debt it is important to pay back the maximum amount you can afford to pay back each month. By constructing a monthly budget you should be able to save money in areas you are overspending which will also help you pay more money off your credit card. Credit card debt does not have to control your life, it is an opportunity for you to take a step back and regain control of your finances.

    I treat my credit card like a debit card and pay the balance off, rather than carry a balance over to the next month.
