You'll need:
a large box
a jogging suit set in the color of your choice
a matching color hat or cap
scissors
6 small empty margerine containers (think Country Crock containers)
non flammable spray paint (in a matching color to your jogging suit)
duct tape
pen or pencil
1. Start by constructing the box portion of your costume. Take one end of your large box and open it (this is where your feet will come out of). Leave the other end with closed flaps.
2. Cut holes into the closed end of your box. You'll want one large hole on the top of the box for your head, and two smaller holes on the sides for your arms.
3. At this time, lay the box on a flat surface with what will be the front panel facing up at you. Take your six empty margerine containers and place them on the box where you would want them to go, open end facing down (for a Lego piece, think three by three, in two rows). Take your pen and trace around the container. When you're done, lift the pieces, and you should see your six drawn circles. Use these tracings to cut out your six circles.
4. Take your six margerine containers and from the inside of the box, push them out through the holes made in step 3, with the bottom of the containers facing out. Use duct tape on the inside of your box to hold the containers in place (it shouldn't require too much tape).
5. Congratulations, you've now made the bulk of your costume! Now comes the painting. Make sure to take the proper precautions before painting by using safety gear and painting outdoors. A good recommendation is to use non flammable paint if it's available. Be generous in how much paint you use and cover all of the outside of your costume.
6. Now it's time for the piecing together of your costume. Just put on your jogging suit, hat, and sneakers, then add the box and you've got a homemade costume you can be proud of. It's a unique and creative idea that's alot of fun to construct and even more fun to show off. Have a great Halloween as a Lego this year!

Post a CommentGreat, fun idea!
Give the kid a box and she'll make anything out of it. What a great idea and very low cost. This brings back memories of childhood when my brother and I would make a TV set out of a box and get inside it to do "pretend shows". We would even have knobs to change channels etc. Heaps of fun.
