Items Needed:
Mixing bowl (avoid plastic bowls, it is best to use glass if possible)
Airtight jar(s) with screw on lid
Paring knife or vegetable peeler
Dust cloths or rags
Lemons
Water
Lemon or Olive oil
White distilled vinegar
Instructions:
1. Make a solution with the liquid ingredients. Use equal parts of water and vinegar and a drop or two of the lemon or olive oil, the exact measurements will depend on how many rags you are planning on preparing. Place your rags in the solution and let them absorb it. Squeeze out any excess solution from the rags, leaving them damp, and lay the cloths smooth on a flat surface.
2. Pare or peel the rind from several lemons, again the exact amount will depend on the quantity of cloths you are working with. Lay a few pieces of lemon rind on each cloth.
3. Fold or roll up each cloth around the peels. Place the cloth in the airtight jar with an extra piece of lemon peel. Secure the lid so that the jar is airtight.
4. When you are ready to dust, simply remove the cloth from the jar and get down to business.
I suggest making several dish cloths at a time, and then storing them until you want to use them. It is best to wash or boil the cloths after each use, before re-infusing them with this solution so that they will be clean and ready to use again.
