How to Make a Lightweight Leave in Conditioner for Your Hair that Really Works

J. McDaniel
I love tea. It's great for the body. But it's also great for the hair, too.

Teas make wonderful base for refreshing hair. Green tea especially is packed full of antioxidants.

Here is a basic recipe for making your own leave in conditioner based on tea:

1 tea bag (fruit or green tea preferred)
1 tbsp raw shea butter
1 cup water
1 misting spray bottle

This recipe is pretty simple to make. Just drop the shea butter and tea bag in 1 cup of hot water and steep for 10
minutes. Then stir the mixture until the shea butter melts and blends in with the tea. You may have to strain this mixture prior to putting it in a misting spray bottle. Pantyhose or cheese cloth works great for this.

This formula will help give your hair a "pick me up" on hot summer days and also makes a great overnight treatment to keep your hair soft and healthy for in the morning. It can be used on all hair types and the shea butter helps to further moisturize and condition hair. With a little tree oil, this mixture can also fight dandruff and itchy scalp.

The shelf life of this mixture is 4 weeks if a natural preservative such as tree oil is used. Otherwise it lasts about 2 weeks.

Good luck mixing up your own hair care solutions!
