How to Live with Arthritis

Arthritis can make ordinary activities seem difficult. This can make you feel stressed, angry, and depressed a t the pain and loss of independence. The swelling of our joints, the pain and stiffness doesn't have to control your life. You can learn how to manage your symptoms and live a full life. A person needs a healthy lifestyle and to stop unhealthy habits so that arthritis doesn't lead to disability. You need to have healthy diets and regular exercise with stretching. Symptoms of athritis won't be cured some magic pill, but by taking your prescribed medicines, you can control pain and slow down its progression.

Protecting your joints is very important. There are guidelines to follow to reduce chances of injury, pain, and inflammation. First of all, ask for help. For example, when shopping for groceries, you might ask the clerk to help car them to the car. May be you can ask a neighbor to help get them out of the car. To protect our joints you must first acknowledge your pain. Pain signifies that something is wrong. Chronic pain is caused by the arthritis. Excessive pain after you are done with an activity may be due to incorrect performance of the activity.

Use good posture. Do not slouch while sitting, keep your head and back straight, hips at 90 degree angles, legs uncrossed, and feet flat on the floor. Don't stay in the same position too long either. Take periodic breaks to reduce the stiffness and pain. If your occupations working at a computer desk, get p and walk around periodically around your your station.

Use the palms of your hands to push yourself up from your chair or toilet. Your fingers and knuckles may be sensitive to pain. Instead of carrying your bags width your fingers use your arms. There are also assistive devices that can be used to help perform some basic activities. This can be long-handled reachers, playing card holders, and padded cooking utensils. You can use splints and braces to help support weak joints when performing certain activities or when suffering from pain.Exercise regularly to stay fit.
