How I Live with a Crazed Jonas Brothers Fan

A Day in the Life at Jonas Brothers Central

Gina Pisano
My daughter Stephanie, aka Mrs. Jonas as she likes to be called, is a Jonas Brothers fan. She is the love of my life, my gift from God. Stephanie is very intelligent, beautiful and well mannered. She enjoys doing things with her friends, being with her family, playing with her 2 dogs, singing and oh yeah, The Jonas Brothers.I feel like Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas are already members of our family. Wherever I go in our house, I'm reminded of The Jonas Brothers. Stephanie's beautifully painted Tiffany blue walls are covered in posters of - you guessed it, The JonasBrothers. Now, I must admit, they are cute. Cute in a way that a 50 year old mother would look at her sons. Not cute in the sense of "Mom, Oh My God, look at Joe, isn't he hot?" Sheesh.

The Jonas Brothers, to be sure, are extremely talented. They appear to have been raised by loving parents and have a great family life. They, with their purity rings that they wear to remind them to stay chaste until marriage, (Kevin is engaged, by the way, which takes him out of the running as my future son-in-law), reflects their Christian values that their upbringing seems to be steeped in. They are fashionistas as well. Scarves around their necks, Burberry ties, the hats - all of it. They look like they've just stepped off the runway in Milan. Will Joe use the straight iron on his hair tonight when he's on Conan or go curly? I'm sick with anticipation.

In addition to the Jonas Brothers posters that adorn Steph's walls, there's the special photo of her and the boys when she met them at one of their Chicago concerts. She and her friends scored a "meet and greet" thanks to her cousin who works for Live Nation, their concert promoter, in Los Angeles. "I can't believe I'm holding my purse in that picture - I should have left in on the floor so I could hug Nick better." "I'm never washing this top again - it was touched by the Jonas Brothers when they hugged me." Always a different comment. This photo was, for a long time the background for her phone, only to be replace by a smoldering image of Nick. Steph's ring tone is of course a JB ditty. I have to say, there music is catchy and I find myself singing along. "When You Look Me In The Eyes" is one of my favorites as is "The Year 3000." I am constantly summoned into Stephanie's lair to take a gander at the latest You Tube video of the Jonas Brothers. "Mom, come and watch the live chat!" "Oh My God, Nick likes ham! I like ham too!"

My daughter has seen the Jonas Brothers in concert 5 times. She was even lucky enough to join them when they played a softball game in Kane County, about 30 -45 minutes from our home. To be so close to the Jonas Brothers while they're having fun playing softball, was almost too much for her and her little friends to bear.

Lately I've been hearing "I wish we could get a Golden Retriever puppy - they're so cute." Now mind you, we already have a 170 lb St. Bernard named Jeff and a 130 lb Newfoundland named Meadow. Stephanie's idea of taking care of her dogs is giving them a quick kiss and a hug and off she goes. Now, I'm thinking why in the world would she want another dog, when we already have two. Bingo! Nick Jonas has a new Golden Retriever named Elvis. "Mom, look at this picture - Nick's holding Elvis like a baby!!" "Elvis is so lucky - Nick's kissing him!"

When the Jonas Brothers are scheduled to appear on a talk show, the atmosphere in our house is electrifying. So far, we've watched them on the Today Show, Regis & Kelly, Ellen, Conan and a host of other talk shows. The Jonas Brothers 3-D movie was also watched - all the while, Stephanie never sat down once. There's so much to look forward to now that the Nick, Kevin and Joe star in their own weekly sitcom called Jonas.

I'm not sure if I can equate the Jonas Brothers hysteria with the Beatles quite yet, but it's getting close. They are for sure, very popular. My 90 year old mother even gets a kick out of them. I sure hope they have staying power. It looks like they'll be around for a long time, based on their crazed fans. I can remember when Stephanie, (Mrs. Jonas) came home from one of their concerts a few weeks ago, on cloud nine. Mainly because the boys put on such an outstanding show, but also because Joe Jonas sprayed her with a fire extinguisher. Does it get any better than that? He even smiled at her. Every car ride that we take, and we spend lots of time in the car, me and my daughter is complimented by music of the Jonas Brothers. Every once in a while, I'll get a break from JB and we'll listen to a Demi Lovato CD. Demi is in the same genre as the Jonas Brothers and appeared with them in the "classic" movie, Camp Rock. Incidentally, two weeks ago, I woke-up at 2:30 in morning to take my daughter and her friend to the AT&T store because Demi Lovato and Radio Disney were going to be there for a meet and greet. "Why do we have to be there by 3:00 AM when she's not coming until 1:00 PM." Stephanie said that there would be so many people there at that time. The buzz on Facebook was that everybody was going to get there by 3:30 or 4:00AM. There might even be fans camping out. Well, we get there and just as I suspected, we were the only ones there, although 4 other fans did come at 5:04 AM - but I digress.

The Jonas Brothers have contributed to my daughter's summertime fun, and for that I am grateful. It's not easy to do what they do. It's very demanding and their schedules are tough. Having a great family, support system and a good attitude always lightens the load. This is not only true for the Jonas Brothers, but for us all as well too.
