So did the thyroid problem cause my mis diagnosis? Maybe, but I know that with medicine, prayer, meditation, vitamins and exercise, I sometimes have no symptoms of any of these problems.
I ate lean cuisines and weight watchers frozen meals with a granola bar and a fruit cup at work, and a meal high in vegetables and whole grains and lean protein and an egg, whole wheat toast and an apple for breakfast, walked 45 minutes in the mall and had no symptoms of thyroid disease other than weighing a lot.
I have since discovered that unlike normal people, when you have a low thyroid, you need to eat lots of calcium containing low fat milk, cheese and other dairy, nuts, low fat proteins lots of different vegetables, whole grains and fruit, avoiding sugars. And you need iodized salt. In fact you can have more salt than normal people because your blood pressure is probably normal or low. That is why the lean cuisines and Weight Watchers meals worked for me.
It is possible to lose weight after you receive treatment for your thyroid problems. You need to stay active, get your emotional eating under control, take medicine, and eat these healthy foods. Also visualize yourself at your goal weight and say "I will weigh 130" or something similar. I read The Secret and it has helped me with my mood. Read positive literature, meditate, breath deep, pray, desire a better life, to get better, do weight bearing exercises to gain muscle and try to stretch and also do cardio to lose fat. I focus on working my abs since that is my trouble area.
I lost twenty lbs following these tips. And I know I look better than I have in a while. Don't worry and try to get your waist below 35 inches if you are a woman. Focus on feeling better and improving yourself. Remember, even people who don't have thyroid problems have to get exercise too for health. Everyone should try to keep active, but you just have to try harder.
Also relieve stress. It can cause thyroid problems. Undergoing trauma, if not handled properly can cause thyroid problems. Breathe, meditate, pray, stay positive, even use aromatherapy such as lavender or Lily of the Valley to relax. Focus on living in the present, and feel how alive your hands are. And it wil energize you.
There is a lot you can do to feel better, such as thumping your thymus located on your chest, like Tarzan, this can increase your immune system and help you feel better. Drink a tea made with apple cider vinegar and honey instead of coffee in the morning. Get a massage, and make your own moisturizer using all natural ingredients like sweet almond oil and coconut oil and an invigorating essential oil to stimulate your senses. Commercial moisturizers contain artificial ingredients that can cause problems for your thyroid. Don't drink too much bottled water, rather drink tap water filtered with a Brita or some other filter.
THere are many good books to look up if you have a thyroid problem. Don't overlook your emotional health and get help if you need it.
