Both sites allow you to work in reverse to find someone.

If the search turns up a thousand entries, for the person, you can narrow the search by entering their date of birth and the state they live in. The number of entries you receive can still be in the hundreds, depending on how common the name is. Scroll through the list to see if any of the names look familiar. The middle initial will appear as well, to help you further identify an individual.

Of course there are other ways to locate individuals such as talking to neighbors, friends, and the last known employer, just to name a few.
