How I Long for Days Gone By

Charles Ray
I still recall the songs of yesterday

That echo through the chambers of my mind.

I think of all the games we used to play.

The precious memories that we have left behind.

It was a time of innocence and bliss,

Of love expressed in utmost purity

In dark corners when we dared to steal a kiss,

And dream of things as they were meant to be.

Those days are gone now, never to return,

Lost in the mists of ever fading time.

And, as I grow older I still yearn

To recapture that long forgotten rhyme.

As I sit and wipe away the salty tears,

I long to go back to bygone years.
