How to Look Fabulous After a Plane Ride

Kimmie Cee
It happens to everyone, the bloating, the dry lips, the pale parched skin, the static hair that looks atrocious, and the swollen feet. If you have any these symptoms then you more than likely just got off the plane, whether it be a short or a long trip most people find themselves looking less than fabulous after a pressurized cabin ride.

I often find myself looking at the people who were on the same flight as me who appear fresh and as if they just waltzed out of a magazine ad. This year as I fly home it's my personal goal look fresh and put together.

Here are some tips on how to achieve that:

Drink lots of water. It's important to hydrate your body to minimize bloating. It's ok to get up to go to the bathroom multiple times!!

In your little toiletry baggie bring essentials such as heavy moisturizer, tinted moisturizer, lip balm, toothbrush/toothpaste, cream blush, concealer, and mascara. Heavy moisturizer is an absolutely necessity because our skin gets so dry. You can try Hope in a Jar (Philosophy), Clinique's a dramatically different moisturizer, or Pond's dry skin cream. Tinted moisturizers not only add more moisture to your skin but also gives you a hint of color, which makes your skin glow and not pale and sallow. Some great products are Stilla's Tinted Moisturizer and Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. Have a cream blush instead of a powder blush makes your cheeks look more hydrated and supple. A few terrific ones are DuWop blush therapy, Benefit rush hour, Stilla convertible color, and Tarte cheek stain. Concealer and mascara are for brighten your eyes from a possible sleepless flight. Benefit Lemon-Aid is a wonder tool that hides discoloration with or without makeup.

Another important item to have on you is a pair of sunglasses. This is to cover your eyes as soon as you walk off the plane, no one will know what's underneath!

Dress comfortably when taking plane trips. Some people wear slacks, but I'm a jean kind of girl because it's comfortable and doesn't noticeably wrinkle. Don't wear clothes that wrinkle! Also bring a scarf or pashmina as a wonderful chic accessory to keep you warm on the plane, it can get pretty chilly inside the cabins.

Wear comfortable shoes that you can walk or run in. You never know if your flight might come in delayed and you have to run to catch a connecting flight. Flats are the recommended the most. I love wearing stylish yet ultra comfy sneakers on long flights where I have to walk from one end of the airport to the other. Flat boots are also a wonderful alternative.

If you have medium to long hair, don't forget to bring a ponytail to put your hair up. It will more than likely have a life of it's own post plane ride.

Finally, remember to check out the TSA website (http://www.tsa.gov) to find out what you can and cannot bring on the plane.
