Holiday parties are a great excuse to put extra effort into looking glamorous. Many people have a few days of work and school which often leads to many planned and last minute gatherings. Here are a few tips to look stylish this holiday season.

It is easy to neglect personal appearance when the schedule is completely full with tasks related to friends or family. Take time to get completely ready for the day. It is tempting to sleep in and relax however there is a great chance that a friend or family member will come over.

Casual Outfits

After rising be sure to put on makeup, take time to style the hair, and get dressed. Wearing a stylish Christmas sweater with leggings or blue jeans is a great alternative to wearing pajamas or an unflattering traditional house dress.

Holiday Party Dresses

There are a number of department stores and discount stores that have a large variety of holiday party dresses available. Being completely comfortable in a fitted dress may require preparing in advance. Try the dress on and view the entire body. Look for any lumps or bumps that can be smoothed over with by wearing Spanx, or another high quality girdle. If the dress requires a special bra or a padded bra try that on with the dress as well before the party. Search the closet for matching shoes, evening handbag, matching shawl, or jacket.

Three days before an important festive gathering during the holiday season start to pay close attention to diet and exercise. Drink plenty of water and herbal teas to help avoid having obvious bloating due to water weight or skin break outs caused by being constipated. Peppermint tea is a great way to keep the bowels regular while enjoying rich homemade holiday foods. If the holiday dress is an extremely close fit try eating raw fruits, raw vegetables, and lean proteins exclusively in the days leading up to the party.

Holiday Make Up

The holidays are a great time to experiment with bold greens, deep reds, or metallic based nail polishes. Schedule a manicure and pedicure a day or two before the festivities. Wear household cleaning gloves when doing light chores to prevent chips in the nail polish. Think about the number of people that will be greeted with a hand shake at company parties. If new makeup has been purchased to compliment the holiday party dress, practice the type of makeup that will be worn. Taking the time to try a new eye shadow, blush, foundation, or lipstick can help improve the look of video and digital pictures that will be taken.

There is always an unexpected event that happens during holiday gatherings. Proper diet, staying hydrated, planning an outfit in advance, and perfecting a makeup look can help boost confidence in personal appearance during the holiday season.
