How to Look Gorgeous for Less

Stop Over Spending

Do you love treating yourself to the salon but wish the results could last just a little longer? Here are a few pointers to stretch your budget and help you stay beautiful.

Love that new color? Keep it fresh looking by keeping it hydrated. You can use a store bought hot oil treatment or you can make one yourself at home. Simply use a small amount of olive oil and massage throughout hair. Wash as usual.

Want to hide those split ends until you can make it in for a trim? Use a leave-in conditioning treatment. Work into ends only of hair and blow dry to form a seal around split ends leaving hair smooth.

Almost out of that perfect shade of lipstick? Use a lip brush to reach down into the tube to get every last bit of color.

Is your favorite scented soap reduced to a tiny sliver? Save it and continue to add more slivers. Once you have a handful, put them in a nylon knee-high stocking and tie closed. Use as you would a loofah.

Found the perfect foundation but it seems to be disappearing fast? Stop blowing the extra off the brush. Instead, tap the brush on the edge of the container to put the extra back.

Got a great blow out at the salon? Keep it smooth and sleek longer by wrapping a silk scarf around your head before bed. This will reduce the friction resulting in smooth locks for days to come.

Want to extend the life of your manicure? Apply a top coat every other day to nails to keep chips at a minimum.

Does your at-home manicure always seem to wear off quickly? Try starting with a cottonball dipped in rubbing alcohol to remove any dirt and oil from the nail surface.

Do you have several half-used pots of eyeshadow lying around. Mix your own colors by adding a few drops of rubbing alcohol to form a paste. Press back into pots and allow to dry for 24 hours. Voila, your own personalized color.
