How to Look Great in Your Wedding Photographs

Most brides remember their wedding day for the rest of their life anyway. But the wedding photos are always great to pull out and reminisce over. As these pictures are a lasting visual record for everyone of your big day, every bride wants to look her very best for the camera. Here are a few tips for taking a great wedding picture:

1.
Hire a good photographer. Many engaged couples look for areas to trim the wedding budget. Skimping on the photographer is not the best place to cut costs however. Interview potential photographers and ask to see their portfolio of previous wedding photography. Ask if he or she will be able to offer you a wide variety of shots, the best wedding albums feature a mix of posed and more candid shots, and a few black and white shots are a very attractive addition to your wedding photographs.

2.
Check your whole outfit. Of course every bride spends a lot of time and effort, not to mention money on the perfect, most flattering wedding gown they can find. But to make sure you look your very best in your dream outfit, good foundation garments are a must. At a wedding I attended a few years ago the bride looked radiant as she walked down the aisle in her white wedding dress, but as she stood to recite the vows, she was backlit, and the dress from the back was completely transparent. Probably not the kind of lasting impression she had in mind.

3.
Invest in a professional make up job. Have the bride, and all the female members of the wedding party made up by a professional. Natural is the best look for a wedding, and a professional make up artist will ensure you all look your best without looking clownish or over made up. Consider going to a salon that offers a complete wedding day package, that includes both hair and make up.

4.
Watch your bouquet. Most women are not well practiced in carrying a bouquet of flowers; it is hardly an everyday practice these days. A bouquet held at your waistline will look far more flattering than if it is held up against the chest.

5.
Get extra help. Everyone and his uncle has a digital camera these days and chances are there will be more than one of two guests at your wedding that fancy themselves as an amateur wedding photographer. One of them may catch a wonderful shot or two that your professional wedding photographer missed. Ask friends and relatives to send you copies of any pictures that they take that they feel are particularly good.

6.
Relax. We all tend to look our best when we are relaxed, stress free and having fun. Wedding planning can be a terribly stressful experience, but when your big day finally arrives let go of all your worries and concentrate on enjoying one of the biggest days of your life.
