How to Look Great Without Spending Money

5 Beauty Products You Can Make

Chelle
If you're like me at all you hate spending money on make-up and other beauty supplies. I find it very wasteful and unaffordable to purchase name brand and department store beauty supplies and cosmetics. You might also worry about products that are tested on animals or use harmful chemicals. Here are 5 free beauty products you can make that use natural ingredients you probably already have at home:

Make Your Own Facial Scrub
Facial scrubs bought at the store can often be expensive and don't always give you the best results. You can make your own facial scrub by taking your favorite mild soap, working it into a lather with water, and then add a half teaspoon of sugar in it. Scrub your face gently and rinse well. Your skin will feel great with this free beauty tip!

Make Your Own Lip Gloss
Lip gloss and lip stick can quickly become expensive if you buy it often. You can make your own by melting Vaseline in the microwave in 30 second intervals until it becomes liquid. Do NOT microwave unattended or for time periods longer than that. Be careful not to burn yourself with the hot liquid and then add your favorite flavors. You can use vanilla, almond, or chocolate extract. You can also add in Kool-Aid drink mix powder, jello powder, or any other flavored powder you might have in your house. (Yes, in theory you could make turkey gravy lip gloss though I wouldn't recommend it!)

Make Your Own Hot Oil Hair Treatment
You can make your own hot oil treatment for your hair using 2 tablespoons of olive oil and a half cup of boiling water. Shake well in a pitcher until it is cool enough to apply to your hair. Cover your hair with a plastic bag or shower cap for 10 minutes. Then shampoo and rinse as usual. This free beauty tip will give you great looking hair without needing the kits sold in stores!

Give Yourself Natural Highlights
You can give yourself natural highlights by streaking or soaking your hair in lemon juice and then sitting in the sun. Just remember to wear your sunscreen while you do this!

Use Baking Soda
You can use baking soda for everything from adding it to your bath or using it to wash your face for smoother skin. You can add it to shampoo to help prevent dandruff. It also works great for a foot scrub or to neutralize odors in your shoes. You can also add it to your toothpaste for a natural teeth whitener.

These free beauty tips will not only will make you look great, but you'll also feel great using them too. Your wallet will also feel great from these free homemade cosmetic tips as well!

Terrific ideas! I always use real olive oil to deep treat my hair instead of spending money on the packaged ones.

I swore I commented on this one, guess chaos and not middle age is the reason for memory loss, right? ha ha. At least I came back to check the hot oil treatment ingredients, and with that I must add, that I loved these tips, wonderful ideas and so economical! As I mentioned keeps me coming back because of that memory thing I mentioned. Have a wonderful day and week if I don't get to get back on here until who knows when. Starting my new bar job today, whoo hoo fun! ahemmmm...... ha ha! Actually getting excited about it. The bar itself is very well known in Memphis and is the only smoking bar in I believe a 30-40 mile radius, which in turn should help the money. Oh yeah, they are open later than most clubs in the area. Good for money, not so good for me. Well again, loved the article that keeps me coming back again. Sorry my comment got lost along the way. When I find it and my mind, I'll give ya a holler!

Lemon juice also gets rid of freckles! And if you want a super cheap microdermabrasion type facial (this is GROSS, but effective) ... smooth Miracle Whip on your face for 10 minutes. If the stink doesn't kill you, you will strip off a whole layer of skin and have rosy baby butt soft cheeks, lol.

Thanks for the tips ... I love making my own sugar scrubs!
