How to Look like a Movie Star on a Budget

Maybe it's because I am approaching my big 4-0 b-day. But, these days I find myself fighting even harder to not look like a middle aged stay-at-home mom of three kids. I am taking more time to apply my make up each and every day and am also selecting high heels and dresses just to run errands. I adore checking out what other celebrity mom's are wearing - Katie Holmes almost always looks fabulous and Victoria Beckham also dresses nicely most of the time. Of course, I don't have their access to stylists, designers and more importantly, the lofty budget to look like a million bucks.

But, I have found some ways and resources to help me look more like a Hollywood mom. First of all, I check out shows like "What Not To Wear" on TLC to get a better idea of what clothes, hairstyles and make-up will look best on me. Secondly, I keep an eye on celeb gossip websites for photos of my favorite celeb moms. People.com, UsMagazine.com, and TomKatCrazy.com are all favorites. Another great site is InStyle.com. Sites like People, InStyle and some of the other magazines that you can pick up at your grocery store checkout area, often showcase celebrity trends and how to replicate the look for much less. These magazines and websites are a huge help in designing fabulous outfits and looks for yourself. Pay close attention to movies and TV shows too. I fell in love with the unique diamond ring that Gwyneth Paltrow's character wore in the movie A PERFECT MURDER. I did some internet research and found out about the original design which was way out of my price range. Then some additional research found me a very affordable "knock off" of the ring.

There are some key components to looking like a movie star:

White teeth are essential. Make sure your pearly whites are bright and dazzling. Whitening strips, mouthwashes, toothpaste and gum can help you achieve a super white smile.

Glowing skin is key. Make sure your skin looks flawless and radiant. Select makeup that compliments your skin tone and is not too heavy.

Confidence is another vital ingredient. Work on your walk and how you carry yourself. Your posture and your stride are very important.

Select clothes that are modern in style, but that look great on you. Not all of us can pull of super short skirts or really flared jeans. Learn what looks good on your body shape. Be careful to not spend too much on trendy items. Spend the bulk of your wardrobe dollars on things that are classic and can be worn for years to come. Spend minimally on those hot pink stilletos that resemble Paris Hilton's shoes from last week's movie premiere.

Accessories are important. Take note of what accessories are popular with celebrities and find cheaper versions. Right now huge Jackie-O'ish sunglasses are all the rage. You can find a great pair for just a few bucks at a discount store.

Have fun!
