How to Look Magnificent on Prom Night

In order to choose the best prom look for you, you must first know what kind of look appeals to you. It doesn't even have to do with the kind of girl you already are; this is a special night and you can play the role of a certain type of girl that has always intrigued you. You don't ever have to fit into a tight category, but it's fun to play with different styles and atmospheres.

So what would you want to be on your prom night: wild, classic & sophisticated, princess, retro starlet, glamorous beauty queen, or romantic?

The Wild One

She seems volatile and unattainable and sometimes her fashion choices are mystifying. However, on prom night you can get a little wild and show that you're not afraid to wear a look that most people wouldn't dare try. What do you have to lose?

Fashion: Leopard print dress, black pearl choker, fishnet stockings (optional), blue or green pumps; an alternative look is a black lace-lined electric blue sheath with black ankle-strap sandals and black gloves.

Makeup: Black liner, false eyelashes, dark magenta lipstick. You're dealing with a look that has a lot of impact. To keep from looking dirty, make sure that your liner isn't smeared and that your false lashes are applied well.

Hair: Down and wavy, voluminous, or spiked; or use temporary hair color in purple, chestnut, black, etc.

Nails: Black nails show that you're daring and rebellious. Wear them short and keep them glossy to keep the look fresh and playful.

Classic & sophisticated

The Classic look shows that you're confident and don't need very many accessories to look amazing. Your best accessory: impeccable posture.

Fashion: Black dress, carry a black clutch. The black dress may seem cliche, but really cannot go wrong with it. Wear pumps or strappy sandals.

Makeup: Rose-beige lipstick, chocolate shadow and rose blusher.

Hair: Hair done up or pulled back

Princess

What girl doesn't dream of being a princess for a night? Well, this is your night to try this look out. Make sure to get in as many pictures as you can and show off your gleaming smile.

Fashion: Wear a gown made of pink or aqua satin; carry a silver clutch; silver or pale pink/pale aqua strappy sandals

Makeup: Pink gloss, pink blush, mascara and false eyelashes

Hair: Curl hair, and then put up; tiara optional (for a modern update, wear a satin ribbon around your head)

Retro

The retro look is composed and very sexy in an understated way. This look also requires a confidence that should be conveyed by great posture. So shoulders back, chest out, and hold your neck up as a swan would.

Fashion: Halter dress; Pearls; carry a red or white satin clutch, polka dotted or black and white open-toed pumps; white or black satin gloves

Makeup: Red lipstick, liquid eyeliner, minimal eyeshadow, soft peach pink blush

Hair: Have hair swept in an updo and curl the remaining pieces that dangle by your face; or curl hair and pin to one side

Glamorous Beauty Queen

The beauty queen is admired, coveted and riveting. When you wear this look, you cannot help but feel oh so glamorous!

Fashion: Look like a queen in a breath-taking purple gown. It will make you stand out and command attention. Wear silver chandelier earrings; carry a silver clutch; silver strappy sandals

Makeup: Aubergine or purple liner and purple shadow; rose blush; rose lipstick

Hair: Wear down and either straight or wavy

Romantic

The romantic girl is quiet and sensitive, with a beautiful, angelic glow. You do not have to be the loudest one at your prom, but you can certainly be the loveliest!
